"Cotton Flower" is on heavy rotation on my iPod right now. So even though you might have heard this on the big music sites already, I simply have to post it again and express my love for this song and for Future Islands in general. With its synths, drum machine and bass line it is a typical track for the Baltimore trio. So just in case you don't know them, this is how awesome they sound most all of the time. Cotton Flower was released on a tribute 7" on Famous Class Records last week.
As usual, Samuel Herrring's voice dominates the compact and to-the-point track, while the synths give it its hymnal feel. And it is very danceable at the same time, so don't miss Future Islands while they are on tour right now, in the US as well as in Europe and Australia. I saw them here in Berlin last year and was blown away by the intensity of the show and Herring's incredible stage presence.
